Steele Canvas, since 1921

Steele Canvas Basket was founded in 1921 on Hamilton Street in Cambridge, Massachusetts, making rugged canvas for New England's coal and textile industries. Brothers John and Paul Lordan, the second generation, run it today in Wilmington, Massachusetts, with many of the original methods still in use.

Steele began in 1921 making canvas for New England's textile mills. Today Steele hampers carry Whalerknits sweaters through our mill in Fall River, where every one is knit, cut and sewn.
