Newport
Newport is our heaviest sweater: 4-gauge shaker knit, 100% cotton or ragg wool, built for cold-weather wear near the water.
Filters
Newport, Rhode Island is harbor country: working boats, sail training, naval history, and weather that changes quickly at the mouth of Narragansett Bay.
The Newport Collection
The Newport is the heaviest sweater family in the Whalerknits line. It is built for customers who want a dense, substantial sweater with traditional fit and real cold-weather presence.
Stitch and Gauge
Newport uses a 4-gauge shaker knit. Four gauge means larger stitches and a heavier fabric than our 7-gauge families. Shaker adds loft and elasticity, giving the sweater more body than a plain jersey knit.
Fiber and Fit
Most Newport sweaters are knit in 100% cotton. Ragg wool versions are also part of the family when the run calls for wool. The fit is traditional and true to size.
